The match awaited grand finale between the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Pharaohs of Egypt came to end when Pharaohs lifted the trophy.

Kameni redeemed himself with a brave save at point blank range from Emad Moteab, who had been sent clear on goal by a superb pass over the top of the defense in the 36th minute.
Both sides respected themselves very much making a goal to come at late of the game. But the Pharaohs had physiological urge over the Lions with the 4-2 back on their minds.
The versatile young midfielder Alexander Song being substituted in the 15 minute through an injury affected the Lions pattern of play.
Using Samuel Eto Fils as the lone striker upfront they created few chances but could not benefit them. Both goalkeepers did wonderfully well by saving many situations. Right after the recess in 55 minute, a thunderbolt strike by Hosny Abdel was spectacularly saved by Idris Kameni.
Angrily, Momadou Idrisou was booked for playing a ball out of play when referee Codjia Koffi, had ruled for an offside.
The Pharaohs looked more aggressive and contained the strength of the Lions, who looked very tired.
In an interview with Patrick Mboma, former star of the Indomitable Lions agreed that the Egyptians were the better side right from the beginning of the tournament. “I am very happy with few difficulties in our team we still manage to go to the finals, and I know there is hope in the future” he said.
So far Egypt is the only country to have won it a record of 6 times, and Coach Hossan Shihata has equal the back –to-back record of Ghana`s C.K.Gyamfi,who also won and defended again in 1963 and 65.
