Civil servants to embark on nationwide strike

    The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) is gearing up for a nationwide sit down strike, beginning Thursday February 8, 2012.

    First National Trustee of CLOGSAG, Kwame Asamoah-Dwomoh says the decision is to protest anomalies and disparities in the migration of members unto the single spine salary structure.

    According to him, some members of the Association have been disadvantaged after the migration whilst others are yet to be placed on the new SSSS. These include members at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, a section at the Forestry Commission and the Non-formal Division of the Ministry of Education.

    “Up till now, we’ve put in some efforts and they are not being migrated onto the single spine”, said Mr. Asamoah-Dwomoh.

    He says attempts to get the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to correct distortions have also been unsuccessful hence the planned industrial action.

    “We think we’re being cheated…and we think in Ghana the language government hears more is strike”, he stated.

    Mr. Dwomoh says members will only resume work when all issues relating to the SSSS are resolved.
