Two days after Ghana's Worker's Day celebration, the U.S ambassador to Ghana, Pamela E. Bridgewater, created her own "Children's Day Celebration" at her residence in Accra for 70 orphans from two orphanages.
In her short address to her little guests, their guardians and other philanthropists, Ms. Bridgewater talked about the 'positive impact' such an event can have on the development of children. 'My desire is that this event will become part of the children's fondest childhood memories as they into young productive adults. Every child, regardless of their background or difficult home circumstances, deserves love and to know we care', she said.
The day climaxed with each child taking home a school bag filled with exercise books, a bottle of frytol oil, a pair of shoes, a bag of rice and an artists box.
M. Bridgewater commended Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh especially, and the rest of his team for their immense contribution in creating such an unforgettable experience for the kids.
