SA mark 100 days to WC 2010
South Africans marked 100 days to the World Cup 2010 on Tuesday in a grand style across the country. The celebration was characterized by jamboree and a lot of display of the global football fiesta paraphernalia mostly in the nine host cities. People performed a dance based on football moves. - At the 100-days ceremony in Durban, one of nine host cities, the mood was celebratory and determined. It came with a lot of national unity as depicted in these photos from our South African photojournalist Lameck Nyagudi.
"As South Africans we have encountered a lot of skepticism but today, as we celebrate this milestone, we can confidently say to the world that we will be ready," Danny J…'Van Nistelrooy' at Nairobi dumpsite
- This is the Dandora dumpsite in Nairobi. It is the main dumping site for most of the solid waste, generated by the 4.5 million people living in the Kenyan capital.Dumping at the site is unrestricted. Industrial, agricultural, domestic and medical wastes - including used syringes - are strewn all over the site. Every day, scores of people, including children, from the nearby slums and low-income residential areas use the dump to find food, recyclables and other valuables they can sell as a source of income. As they pick over the garbage, they are inhaling the noxious fumes from routine waste burning and methane fires. See more pictures by Lameck Nyagudi in his weblogSurviving on Nairobi dumpsite

This are some personal photos I made in Nairobi. I am very worried about this horrible situation. It affects my live, as it does thousands and thousands of others. The eruption of the violence after the announcement of the election makes me regret why I did voted in the fist place. I never voted to see people killing each other nor families being chased away from there home. It's very unfortunate what is happening in Kenya right now am not really sure if it would ever be the same again. - Here you find more of my work: See the Nakuru displaced photo gallery See the Burial of violence victim photo gallery See all AfricaNews webloggersKenya: The burial of violence victims
