We welcome you to Organisation for Good Life of the Marginalized (OGLM) OGLM is a Civil Organization Registered as a Non Governmental Organization by the National NGO Board under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uganda. OGLM implements community based Projects at the Grassroots. OGLM works for/with the Orphan & Vulnerable Children, Sex Workers, Grandmothers, Youths and Women.

Our program areas are around Health & Care, Educational Support, Sexual & Reproductive Health with a bias in HIV/AIDS and Market/Economic Access for the afore mentioned target groups.


Launch Photo Gallery OGLM was birthed out of commitment, love, hope and prayers by Ms. Grace Lwana, Ms. Barbara Munyaruguru, Waiswa Lillian and Christopher Kalema way back in time but started implementing projects in May/2003.
OGLM was founded with a vision of "A society that is free from HIV/AIDS, Poverty and recognizes the needs of the marginalized" and a mission of "To reduce Poverty and HIV/AIDS among the marginalized especially women, children and youth in Uganda through socio-economic empowerment, advocacy and information sharing".

OGLM is accountable to the Donors, the Target Group/Beneficiaries, The Government of Uganda, the Society/Public and the Friends & well wishers. OGLM's Books of accountable are accessible and available to anyone, on request.

OGLM's financial statements are published annually in the local news papers and sent to all our friends and partners in and abroad.

Projects


OGLM has successfully implemented the following projects:

  • Trained 72 Sex Workers in Njeru on HIV/AIDS and Sexual ReproductiveHealth & Rights. We have conducted 25 Trainings.
  • Children Program: We have built a Children's Home which is housing 42Children affected with HIV/AIDS
  • Social & Education: Supported some 230 Children in Kamuli
  • Educational Support: OGLM has been able to support 25 Childrenorphaned by HIV/AIDS to go back to School
  • Vocational Education: OGLM is putting in place a Vocational School totake on Ex-sex workers infected with HIV/AIDS to do courses in tailoring /sewing
  • Economic Access for the Prostitutes: 25 Sex Workers living withHIV/AIDS were supported to access soft loans from the micro - credit providersin Uganda through a referral system, later arrangements were made, support wasprovided for them to access markets. This was done to fight poverty among theSex Workers
  • Health: 72 Sex Workers are being supported in association with theUganda Family Planning Association of Uganda (FPAU), Uganda Aids Commission(UAC), Aids Information Center - Jinja (AIC) and The Aids Support Organization(TASO), to access quality health services in Voluntary Counseling & Testing(VCT), Family Planning Services, Anti - Aids Drugs (ARVs & ARTs) andspecialized medical attention. This has been done in partnership with theorganizations aforementioned and a network of referrals.
  • Lobbying & Advocacy: In Nov/2005 OGLM called a grand workshop inJinja, for the celebrated schools of thought, human rights activists, members ofparliament and the press, to present papers and their views on why the UgandanHealth Policy doesn't consider the Sex Workers. Views were collected and pressstatement was issued, currently, we are collecting endorsements and signatures,in April/2006 it will be published and a follow - up will be made so that amotion can be moved on the aforementioned in the house/parliaments of Uganda.This will call on the Government to Support the Sex Workers living with HIV/AIDSand access treatment
  • Others: Baseline surveys, Researches, Capacity Building and IECDevelopment for Advocacy & Health Rights
